Already happened

The June Watch Parties, Archived

North York's group-stage month delivered six free community events. They've wrapped — kept here for the record.

Neighbourhood fan culture

North York's Footballing Nations

North York's demographic diversity maps directly onto the bracket. With Canada out, here's who in the neighbourhood still has a team alive — and where that energy concentrates.

North African community — Downsview and beyond

Morocco just eliminated Canada and meets France in a July 9 quarterfinal — a rematch of the famous 2022 semifinal. Egypt faces Argentina in the Round of 16 on July 7. The Africa Village at Downsview Park screens matches featuring African teams on select dates; expect the Moroccan flags that filled Toronto streets in 2022 to be back out in force this week.

Latin American community — three teams alive

Colombia plays Switzerland July 7, Argentina plays Egypt the same day, and Mexico — a co-host — met England Sunday night for a quarterfinal spot. North York's Latin American soccer culture showed up in numbers at June's Mel Lastman Square Latin Fair; for the knockouts, the Columbus Centre's daily screenings are the closest reliable big screen.

Portuguese and Spanish fans — the July 6 derby

Portugal vs Spain, Monday July 6 at 3 PM ET, is the knockout round's marquee collision — an Iberian derby with a semifinal path on the line. Toronto's Portuguese heartland is downtown, but North Yorkers can catch it free at the Locke library branch (3083 Yonge St, 3 PM) or the Columbus Centre.

Iranian and Korean communities — until next time

Two of North York's biggest footballing diasporas — the Iranian community along the Yonge corridor and the Korean community around Finch and Sheppard — saw their teams' runs end before the Round of 16. The corridor's cafes haven't gone quiet, though: neutral-fan viewing for the quarterfinals onward is everywhere, and the final is a 3 PM Sunday kickoff made for patios.

Downtown within reach — but bring a wallet now

The FIFA Fan Festival: Premium Tickets Only

The FIFA Fan Festival at Fort York and The Bentway (250 Fort York Blvd) runs through the final on July 19, screening every remaining match on giant screens with food vendors and live programming. The catch has hardened since June: free general admission is fully claimed. What's left is premium — $100 (Garden Pavilion), $150 (Pitchside Terrace), or $300 (Casamigos Clubhouse) via Ticketmaster or torontofwc26.ca.

For big knockout matches the main screen area fills fast even with a ticket. Weigh that against North York's zero-dollar, zero-registration options — the Columbus Centre and Wilson Village's final-weekend party — before committing to the trip down.

Toronto's hosting duty is done. BMO Field's six matches wrapped July 2, and Canada Soccer House at Harbourfront finished its scheduled June 11–July 2 run. The Fan Festival is the last official downtown venue standing.
