Canada's Historic Run
It ended July 4 in the Round of 16 — but this was the best men's World Cup Canada has ever played. Out of Group B, a first-ever knockout win, and three weeks of packed watch parties from Downsview to Mel Lastman Square.
Further than any Canadian men's team before.
Where to Watch the Knockout Rounds
The June street parties have wrapped, but North York still has free viewing for every remaining round — anchored by the Columbus Centre Soccer Fest, which screens matches on every one of the tournament's remaining days while most of the city's coverage points you downtown.
Columbus Centre — Soccer Fest
North York's most reliable knockout-round option: select matches broadcast live on the remaining tournament dates — quarterfinals July 9, 10, 11, semifinals July 14 and 15, and the final weekend July 18–19. Free admission, free on-site parking, and Line 1 to Lawrence West Station gets you there without a car. Running since opening day, June 11.
"The Columbus Centre is transforming into the epicentre of Toronto's soccer obsession — admission is completely free."

Outdoor screen at YZD. Getting there: Line 1 to Wilson Station, then the 184 Ancaster Park bus to Gilley Rd at Garratt Blvd.
"The watch party will take place Saturday, July 18 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, July 19 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m."

Watch Live at Locke! — Library Screening
The library gets in on the knockout rounds: the Locke branch screens the Monday, July 6 match at 3 PM — that's Portugal vs Spain, an Iberian derby in the Round of 16. Air-conditioned, free, no ticket, and steps from Lawrence Station. A quietly great option if outdoor screens aren't your thing.
"Watch Live at Locke! — Monday, July 6 at 3 p.m., Toronto Public Library Locke Branch, 3083 Yonge Street."

Downsview Park — Africa Village
Africa Village screens matches featuring African teams, with a vendor market and cultural performances — and Africa still has serious skin in the game: Morocco meets France in a July 9 quarterfinal, and Egypt plays Argentina July 7 in the Round of 16. July screening dates are announced close to match days — check the Downsview Park events page before heading out.

The June Watch Parties, Archived
North York's group-stage month delivered six free community events. They've wrapped — kept here for the record.
- Wilson Village BIA Kickoff Watch Party — 34 Hanover Rd, June 12. Canada's home opener on a giant outdoor screen. The same BIA hosts the final-weekend party July 18–19.
- Uptown Yonge BIA Canada Watch Party — 20 Castlefield Ave, June 12.
- Midtown Kickoff festival zone — Yonge & St. Clair, June 11–14.
- Downsview Park Africa Village screenings — June 16, 17, and 20 (Senegal, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire). Still screening African teams' matches on select dates.

- Mel Lastman Square Multicultural Latin Fair — 5100 Yonge St, June 21.
North York's Footballing Nations
North York's demographic diversity maps directly onto the bracket. With Canada out, here's who in the neighbourhood still has a team alive — and where that energy concentrates.
North African community — Downsview and beyond
Morocco just eliminated Canada and meets France in a July 9 quarterfinal — a rematch of the famous 2022 semifinal. Egypt faces Argentina in the Round of 16 on July 7. The Africa Village at Downsview Park screens matches featuring African teams on select dates; expect the Moroccan flags that filled Toronto streets in 2022 to be back out in force this week.
Latin American community — three teams alive
Colombia plays Switzerland July 7, Argentina plays Egypt the same day, and Mexico — a co-host — met England Sunday night for a quarterfinal spot. North York's Latin American soccer culture showed up in numbers at June's Mel Lastman Square Latin Fair; for the knockouts, the Columbus Centre's daily screenings are the closest reliable big screen.
Portuguese and Spanish fans — the July 6 derby
Portugal vs Spain, Monday July 6 at 3 PM ET, is the knockout round's marquee collision — an Iberian derby with a semifinal path on the line. Toronto's Portuguese heartland is downtown, but North Yorkers can catch it free at the Locke library branch (3083 Yonge St, 3 PM) or the Columbus Centre.
Iranian and Korean communities — until next time
Two of North York's biggest footballing diasporas — the Iranian community along the Yonge corridor and the Korean community around Finch and Sheppard — saw their teams' runs end before the Round of 16. The corridor's cafes haven't gone quiet, though: neutral-fan viewing for the quarterfinals onward is everywhere, and the final is a 3 PM Sunday kickoff made for patios.
The FIFA Fan Festival: Premium Tickets Only
The FIFA Fan Festival at Fort York and The Bentway (250 Fort York Blvd) runs through the final on July 19, screening every remaining match on giant screens with food vendors and live programming. The catch has hardened since June: free general admission is fully claimed. What's left is premium — $100 (Garden Pavilion), $150 (Pitchside Terrace), or $300 (Casamigos Clubhouse) via Ticketmaster or torontofwc26.ca.
For big knockout matches the main screen area fills fast even with a ticket. Weigh that against North York's zero-dollar, zero-registration options — the Columbus Centre and Wilson Village's final-weekend party — before committing to the trip down.
How to Watch at Home
Every remaining match is available in Canada — and the biggest ones are free over-the-air.
