It's that time of year again! One of the most spectacular natural events is happening right in our backyard. Thousands of Chinook Salmon are making their incredible journey upstream to spawn, and there are several fantastic spots in and around North York to witness it.

Each fall Toronto's streams come alive as Atlantic and Pacific salmon push upriver to spawn. In mid-September through October (often peaking around Thanksgiving) our rivers — especially after heavy rains and cooler weather — fill with jumping Chinook and Coho salmon. Witnessing these powerful fish leaping over rocks and small falls is both awe-inspiring and family-friendly.
