The North York Tennis Association (NYTA) says it operates 19 summer clubs from April to October and 3 winter locations (nyta.org, October 4, 2026; phone 416-496-0225). City open data lists 20 club-operated court sites in our coverage area. Fees are not published on most club pages, so they are not listed here.

North York Tennis Club

75 Hollywood Ave (Willowdale Park), 4 lit courts. The 2026 season ran from the first week of May (weather permitting) to October 31, with courts open daily 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Adult registration opened February 14, 2026 and closed in early April at capacity. The club offers private and group lessons, an after-school program and a summer camp. Fees were not on the club's page.

Hillcrest Tennis Club

37 Cresthaven Dr, 4 lit courts. The club reported that membership for the 2026 season was full; junior camp and lesson registration was still open, and courts were resurfaced in April-May 2026. Check the club site in winter 2026-27 for the 2027 membership window.

Bayview Village Tennis Club

Hawksbury Park, 1A Hawksbury Dr, 6 lit courts (City data; confirm the club's mailing and court address on its site). The club listed a Junior Tennis Camp for ages 4-18, with a 6-week fall session in fall 2026. Dates and fees were not confirmed.

All club-operated courts in North York

Clubs run on a typical pattern: registration opens in February and sells out by April (North York Tennis Club and Hillcrest both did in 2026). If you want a 2027 spot, watch club sites from February 2027.

Winter and Indoor Tennis

The indoor option is North York Winter Tennis Club, an NYTA program with three heated bubbles: North, South and East. On October 4, 2026 its site showed enrollment full, with a waitlist. The 2026-27 dues schedule and non-member court rates are posted as PDFs on the club site; we did not retrieve the amounts, so check there. Call 416-496-0225. Bond Park (120 Bond Ave) lists the winter club alongside Don Mills Tennis Club in the City data.

Outdoors, the City flags certain courts as "winter play", including Cummer Park, Kirkwood Park, Roywood Park, Fenside Park and Bestview Park. Treat that as weather-dependent: no clearing or maintenance is promised.

Lessons and Kids

  • NYTA runs junior programs from tots to teens, group and private lessons, and a junior academy (nyta.org, 416-496-0225).
  • North York Tennis Club offers private and group lessons, an after-school program and a summer camp.
  • Hillcrest Tennis Club took junior camp and lesson registrations while its adult membership was full in 2026.
  • Bayview Village Tennis Club listed a Junior Tennis Camp for ages 4-18 in fall 2026.

Lesson fees and 2027 dates were not published at the time of writing, so ask each club directly.

Tennis Courts and Pickleball

City open data lists both tennis and pickleball at 21 North York public parks, including Cummer, Kirkwood, Glendora, Hullmar and Bestview. The City's court-improvement project had work complete at 24 of 28 parks as of October 4, 2026, with all construction due in spring 2027. We could not confirm per park whether the lines are shared or separate, so look at the surface before you set up a net. For dedicated schedules, see pickleball drop-in times.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Toronto public tennis courts free?

Yes. City of Toronto public tennis courts are free, open at all times and first come, first served. Players share with anyone waiting every 30 minutes, nets are provided and some courts may close in winter. Club-run courts are different: they are for members, with six free prime-time public hours per week at most clubs.

How many public tennis court sites are in North York?

City open data (refreshed October 1, 2026) lists 32 public tennis sites with 90 courts in North York, 17 of them lit, plus 20 club-operated sites. Boundaries are approximate, so confirm a park is where you expect before you drive.

Can non-members use community club courts?

Partly. The City says community clubs offer six free prime-time hours a week for the public to play, except on clay courts and at L'Amoreaux Tennis Centre. Outside those hours, you need a membership. Ask the club which six hours it has set aside.

When does the outdoor tennis season run in North York?

The City does not publish season dates for public courts. North York Tennis Association (NYTA) summer clubs run April to October, and North York Tennis Club at 75 Hollywood Ave ran from the first week of May (weather permitting) to October 31 in 2026.

Where can I play tennis in North York in winter?

North York Winter Tennis Club (an NYTA program) runs three indoor bubbles, North, South and East; its site showed enrollment full with a waitlist on October 4, 2026. Call 416-496-0225. A few outdoor public courts carry a City "winter play" flag, but the City promises no clearing or maintenance.

How do I join a community tennis club in North York?

Register early: North York Tennis Club opened 2026 adult registration on February 14 and closed it in early April at capacity, and Hillcrest Tennis Club (37 Cresthaven Dr) reported its 2026 membership full. 2027 windows and fees are not published yet; check each club site in winter 2026-27.

Are there tennis lessons for kids in North York?

Yes. NYTA runs junior programs from tots to teens, North York Tennis Club offers private and group lessons, an after-school program and a summer camp, and Hillcrest Tennis Club took junior camp and lesson registrations in 2026. Bayview Village Tennis Club listed a Junior Tennis Camp for ages 4-18 in fall 2026; confirm dates and fees with the club.

Are North York tennis courts shared with pickleball?

Many are. City open data lists both tennis and pickleball at 21 North York public parks, including Cummer, Kirkwood, Glendora, Hullmar and Bestview. Whether the lines are shared or separate varies by park, so check the surface when you arrive and use the City's 30-minute sharing rule.
